Duties

There are not many firmly defined duties for Ranelagh members. However no community club would be able to operate without the members contributing in different ways.

Duties include:

  • Active members provide safety boat coverage, with the rota being communicated well in advance. Members make an effort to turn up or swap their duties if necessary.
  • Regular work days  – 2 or 3 times a year. The range of tasks typically includes some form of cleaning, painting, getting rid of old stuff as well as minor repairs to the club house or club boats.

In addition, people are encouraged to help at Open Meetings with various tasks to run a larger event. But helping the club could also mean that experienced helms take inexperienced crews out to introduce them to sailing. Most of these things are actually fun even though they go beyond pure competitive racing. They also make the club a friendly place.
