An almost balmy spring day saw a good turnout after the Racers’ dinner. The fleet approached the turning mark in a lull, but Alex survived the restart and was the first to pick the favoured North shore -well done! Great sporting venues – Wembley (just visible bottom left), Fulham football ground, and Ranelagh race course C! George T led around the marks to take line honours, but it was Maury who took the overall win after reeling in Marco. Thank you Sarah for safety boat duty. The dropping of the Thames Barrier and a huge fluvial flow saw the usual flood tide reversed. The fleet crept around the course in very light air with Maury winning and Will and Richard J completing the top 3. Thank you Amy! Windier than it looked from the clubhouse, around the corner Nigel made the most of the planing conditions to win R4. Swimming and donuts also in evidence. Thanks to Xenia for the pictures, Dennis for the safety duty and Brian for the chilli afterwards to watch the rugby!
After a slow start getting to know the Solo, Nigel worked his way through the fleet and hit the front just before the turning mark, holding the lead to the finish with Maury in second. Who said sailing was a sitting down sport! There was just enough breeze to get us around with some occasional nice puffs. Thanks to Alastair
