2019 Handicaps

The 2019 handicaps are in - no change for most of the classes but the Lasers have sneaked in with an extra point, well deserved some might say...... will start using the new handicaps from 1st April.

Winter Series 2019

Well the good news is Spring is well on the way and the Winter Series has now finished. Congratulations, yet again, to Una who was given a run for her money by Guillaume with Richard J not far behind, followed by veteran sailor Nick W in 4th place only 5 points back. As for the rest of us we were also rans.

Time to stowaway the dry suits and unpack the shorts - Spring Series starts soon but not before a couple of Downriver races and the BBC Easter Cup.

28th February - Birthday Party

All welcome to celebrate the Club's 130th anniversary - drinks, food and war stories from 7pm onwards - Thursday 28th Feb.

130 years old

Great turnout for a balmy winters day race, 130 years to the day after the Club was formed - Happy Birthday Ranelagh!

Matthews Commemoration Race / Downriver Series 2018

With the elite Merlin sailors off enjoying the Alpine snow or raising another glass in their French and German chateaux and the Solo sailors preferring the company of their families and a home fire it was left to the impoverished, some say intrepid, Laser sailors ably supported by Una to sail the last race of the year. By sailing we really mean drifting but nonetheless a tightly fought race was duly completed and congratulations go to Richard (Jarvis) who is the 2018 winner of the Matthews Commemoration Race.

Autumn / Summer Series update

Contrary to the published race schedule we have decided to stick with the meteorological calendar so the last race of the Summer series was 30th September (congratulations to Una who swept all before her) and the Autumn Series kicked off on 6th October with Victor setting an early pace. All the results have now been updated to reflect this.

The Indian Goddess Durga......at Ranelagh

Over the years the Club has been hired out for many different events but I suspect never to celebrate the Hindi Indian Goddess Durga! Renowned photographer, Julia Fullerton-Batten, went to extraordinary lengths to recreate a Bengali ritual celebrating Durga as part of her latest project 'Old Father Thames' which will be coming out later this year.
